Avreste mai immaginato una correlazione tra potatura vinicola e brand di moda? Probabilmente no, ma è proprio su questo che il nuovo progetto dell’azienda milanese Vegea si sta focalizzando. “Filato dal vino” unisce due grandi eccellenze italiane conosciute in tutto il mondo: moda e vino.
La storia di Vegea
L’azienda nasce nel 2016 a Milano. L’intuizione è di Gianpiero Tessitore, architetto, e Francesco Merlino, chimico industriale.
L’obiettivo dell’azienda è produrre materiali eco-sostenibili per i settori moda, design e trasporti, a partire da materie prime vegetali dell’agro-industria.
Da numerosi studi, infatti, condotti da Vegea in collaborazione con centri di ricerca specializzati nella sintesi di macromolecole, è emerso che gli scarti derivanti dalla produzione del vino costituiscono la base perfetta per la creazione di tessuti tecnici bio-based.
La svolta
Lo scorso 28 novembre Vegea è stata premiata al Parlamento Europeo di Bruxelles nell’ambito della “European Top 50 Competition”. Si tratta di un concorso che ogni anno seleziona le 50 migliori idee d’impresa del nuovo millennio.
Questo filato innovativo costituisce un’alternativa alle pelli animali e sintetiche. E’ impiegabile dunque in diversi settori.
Contribuisce a promuovere quel modello di economia circolare opposto al sistema economico lineare, insostenibile e inefficiente poiché produce rifiuti e inquina.
Merlino ha dichiarato: “Abbiamo presentato a Milano una prima collezione di abiti, scarpe e borse per mostrare la versatilità e lavorabilità del materiale. Siamo molto soddisfatti degli interessamenti ricevuti da parte degli addetti al settore. Alcuni outfit ci sono già stati richiesti per essere esibiti nei più importanti musei ed eventi sulla moda ecosostenibile nel mondo”.
Vegea sta creando una nuova forma di valore, sfruttando elementi che fino ad oggi sono stati considerati sottoprodotti: i semi e le bucce dell’uva, ricavati durante la produzione del vino.
Un grande esempio di Made in Italy che insegna come riutilizzare intelligentemente “scarti” in apparenza privi di valore.
