Oggi ci sono 27 centrali elettriche a biomasse la cui fonte primarie è il biogas, ottenuta dalla fermentazione di rifiuti legnosi, che riescono a compensare l’80% dell’emissione di carbone. La città è diventata sede del centro europeo per le energie rinnovabili (EEE), a livello Internazionale, Gussing, è un centro per favorire lo scambio di tecnologie e promuovere iniziative che accomunino i Paesi dell’Unione Europea.
