Olli, il bus stampato in 3D, ecosostenibile e guidato da un’intelligenza artificiale

Il futuro della mobilità si è presentato nell’ultimo MEMS Executive Congress 2016 a Scottsdale in Arizona grazie all’azienda Local Motors. Non cambierà solo il modo in cui guideremo ma anche come verranno prodotte le auto stesse. Si tratta di rivoluzionare l’intera filiera, lasciando al passato tutte le fasi che oggi partecipano direttamente o meno anche all’inquinamento del nostro pianeta. Una sola parola: stampa 3D.

Realizzare un’ auto in un giorno, grazie alla stampa 3D

Grazie a questa tecnologia, Local Motors promette di poter realizzare un’intera auto in appena un giorno, eccetto che per il motore che verrebbe di fatti montato in un secondo momento richiedendo almeno altri due giorni. Parliamo però di tempi del tutto simili ad una consegna di un prodotto di consumo, di auto che vengono realizzate come fossero elettrodomestici. Un risparmio di tempo e risorse enorme.

“La nostra prima auto fu la Strati” come ricorda Philip Rayer, tra i manager dell’azienda. Un’auto personale interamente stampata in 3D in fibra di carbonio e plastica, elettrica e con un solo posto riservato all’autista ma che rappresentava una piccola rivoluzione in attesa di conquistare il mondo. Con un costo di appena 5000 dollari, iniziò a far presagire un mondo in un cui l’auto sarebbe diventata un prodotto realmente di consumo.

Olli, l’autobus guidato da un’intelligenza artificiale

Adesso Local Motors ha presentato l’evoluzione di quell’idea: Olli, un mini autobus. Dotato di componenti microelettromeccanici (MEMS), è anch’esso interamente stampato in 3D. Sarà possibile richiederlo come fosse un taxi, pienamente integrato con la rete di mobilità cittadina.

Ollie sarà una delle prime forme di “cognitive mobility”. Il bus, infatti, presenta guida autonoma e viene gestito a distanza grazie all’intelligenza artificiale Watson di OBM. Può essere utilizzato dovunque nel mondo, senza alcuna limitazione e di fatti è stato introdotto in fase di test in città come Las Vegas e Copenhagen.

La mobilità del futuro sarà digitale ed ecosostenibile

Una delle caratteristiche chiave del progetto è anche il suo impatto ambientale, ridotto del 75% rispetto ai mezzi tradizionali. In più, essendo l’intero sistema controllato da Watson, l’IA analizza costantemente il traffico cittadino per ottimizzare quale autobus impiegare in un dato momento e ridurre così al massimo lo spreco di energia.

Risparmio e rispetto dell’ambiente. Ecco le parole d’ordine attorno a cui verrà plasmata la tecnologia nei prossimi decenni, che si tratti di uno smartphone o di un’auto non vi è differenza. E se oggi pensiamo che le auto siano prodotti complessi e costosi, l’innovazione ci spingerà presto a cambiare idea. Basta vedere la recente novità per cui su Amazon Italia sarà possibile ordinare auto della Fiat. Un click per produrle, un click per acquistarle. Ecco quale potrebbe presto essere il nostro nuovo presente.
